The Sonic Transducer is an Audio-Vibratory, Physio-Molecular Transport Device… I mean, an out-of-this-world modulation pedal!

The Sonic Transducer Modulator (STM) combines a fully analog signal path with a V3207 BBD and a digitally controlled LFO, a first for Monger Pedals. The result is a modulation machine that can go from subtle and musical to completely unexplainable.

At one end of the spectrum, the STM delivers crisp, jittery chorus with just the right amount of warble and texture. Push it further and things start getting weird. Really weird.

The digital LFO features 8 selectable waveforms, ranging from downward sawtooth and sine waves to random slopes and everything in between. With control over the modulation speed and behavior, there are plenty of strange new sounds hiding inside.

Three Signal Paths

The STM features a 3-position triple-contact switch that changes how the dry and modulated signals interact.

Left — Chorus
Your classic chorus configuration: the dry signal is mixed with the delayed, modulated signal from the BBD.

Middle — Vibrato
The dry signal is completely removed, leaving only the modulated delay signal. Pure pitch movement with no dry signal underneath.

Right — Compressed Dry
The modulated delay is mixed with a compressed version of the dry signal for something that lands somewhere between chorus and vibrato.

Internally, the dry signal is compressed post-preamp using a 571 compander chip. Taking the signal directly from the output of the compressor gives the dry path a slightly lo-fi character that pairs surprisingly well with the BBD delay. The result is a sound that isn’t quite chorus and isn’t quite vibrato, something entirely its own.

The Medusa

The Medusa switch adds a dry-signal tremolo to the equation.

Unlike a traditional tremolo that simply chops the signal up, the Medusa rhythmically pulls the dry signal downward. This means that, depending on your STM settings, the output can continuously shift between chorus and vibrato at the rate of the LFO.

And because the Medusa uses the same LFO as the modulation circuit, everything stays perfectly synchronized. The result is an extra layer of movement and dimension on top of an already evolving sound.

Tap Tempo

Need to change the modulation speed on the fly? Playing a song in a different tempo and don’t feel like bending down to turn the knob?

The Tempo footswitch lets you take control.

Tap the footswitch at least twice and the LFO speed switches to your tapped tempo, overriding the speed control. Want to return to the knob’s original setting? Simply tap or slightly move the speed control and the STM jumps right back to knob control.

Momentary & Power-On Modes

The Bypass footswitch does more than simply turn the effect on and off.

Momentary Mode
Press and hold the bypass footswitch for at least half a second to use the STM momentarily. Hold it down for chorus on a single chord, a burst of vibrato, or whatever strange modulation your song demands.

Power-On State
Want the pedal to always power up engaged? No problem. Hold down the bypass footswitch while connecting power. The STM will either power up engaged or remain bypassed until you hit the footswitch.
